E A R T H D A Y 21.

Every year we recognise #earthday as a time to think about & read the many posts explaining the implications our daily activities have on the planet, we question the necessity of all the plastic, the useless polystyrene & our emissions for commutes that could be easily walked. And then most of continue as we were.

There is no arguement that the past 13 months have been incredibly hard on people, the human population has for the most part been locked away deprived of its natural need to socialise and interact. But in stark contrast the Earth has thrived.

There have been numerous reports of animals appearing in unimaginable places, air pollution decreasing due to less traffic on land / through our skies, how littering all but stopped, & beaches being visted by life we thought we would never see again. Mother Earth showed us that with enough rest &time things heal.

BUT this isnt actually what I wanted to adress this world earth day. For me I’m looking at how the world has come together. How we have realised that the Earth is both utterly enormous & very small.

It has now been almost 2 years since I have seen my family who I miss every second of every day, and so the world has become so incredibly big. Booking a plane ticket & jumping on board was so easy, until it wasn't. But even if you don't live hundreds-thousands of miles away, recent times have made even being in the next road feel like you are on another continent.

But despite the restrictions & our wings being clipped, the world has probably never been as connected as it has been the past year, learning new skills in communicating via different means and platforms. I personally have enjoyed reluctant Mums Tik-Toking with their teeenage kids, Grandparents on Zoom with no a clue whats going on and who are these geniouses that create all the memes?!

But so much communication coming from every fibre-optic hole in your body can for some proove overwhelming...

So this Earth day, I would like to recognise all my friends, family & loved ones across the world to let you know that even if we havent been in (constant) contact, I am thinking of you and I appreciate the part you play in my world.

And I think that is what this is all about really, appreciating the Earth, looking after it, & taking responsibility of what & how you live, but also realising that the world is made up of so many people just like you, all going through similar things sharing the planet we call home.
