C O V I D - 1 9.

Updated: May 7, 2020

From what started as a comical loo roll dash n grab for so many of us 'liking' and sharing memes on social media, the impact of Covid-19 is becoming more and more apparent that it is actually 'A THING' and we are all waking up to the realities of living in a world under threat of an almighty virus that none of us were prepared for (excpet maybe my Dad who has dedicated a long time service to hand sanitiser, rubber gloves, dettol bathing and excessive hand washing).

As the situation changes day by day our precautions and proceedures will be reviewed in accordence to public health and safety reccomendations offered by the Australian Government. Your health and saftey is our priority. Health and wellness are of utmost importance to us - it is everything we are about afterall. We want you to be able to continue your practice with us at the studio and want you to feel comfortable, relaxed and confident that you are safe and free from harm.

So, with this in mind: (UPDATED 21/3/2020)

1) We would like to ask everyone to please give class a miss if you are not feeling too good, usually we would say come, this is when you need yoga the most, but unfortunately at this moment in time we kindly ask you think of your fellow yogis and maybe take a self practice at home.

2) We do have the aircon running throughout our classes but we will have the windows open now too.

3) Those of you that own your own mats please bring these with you.

4) If you don't have your own mat please bring a towel with you to lay over our mats.

5) If you usually use a pillow for relaxation or for your knees, please start to bring your own. You are very welcome to keep it at the studio to save you from forgetting it if you would like to.

6) After class if you are using one of our mats or blocks, please leave them where you have them as everything will be cleaned with antibacterial spray after each use.

7) If you use our bathroom please wash and dry your hands thoroughly.

8) We are limiting classes to 8 people so it is vital that you check in on Zen Planner and if you cannot make the class you unreserve at least 2 HOURS before the class begins to make it fair for everyone.

Continuting your yoga practice is one of the best things you can do during a pandemic like this. Coronavirus affects the lungs and respiratory system, our yoga practice focuses on developing our breath, using more lung capacity, strenthening our lungs and breathing deeper, more consciously and with ease which should serve you very well to fight off a contraction in the first instance or if you do become sick, to recover fully and quickly. Our immune systems are compremised when our cortisol levels are high. Cortisol increases with stress and anxiety meaning we become more likely to get sick. Ironic when it is the thought of getting sick that is, in fact, the cause of your anxiety. Yoga calms the body and the mind reducing cortisol levels so keeps the epossibility if infection at bay. Yoga also helps us sleep better; deeper, longer and with less interruption. Sleep is the time our body uses to fight infection, surpress inflamation and renew our cells. So, geting more Zzzzzs helps prevent disease.

We are always here to make you feel better, if you are not well or deciding to self isolate and would like some poses to practice at home, send an email and I'd be happy to write something up for you. If we end up in a complete lockdown I will work on some videos to share so we can continue from our own homes.

Stay well, stay healthy, be vigilant, be kind and most of all, be responsible.
